LOWRY (also seen as LOWERY) (my great-grandfather), was born about 1835
in Tennessee. He married Mary Ann CULP in 1861, Franklin County,

Franklin County, IL. Thomas Jesse Lowry and Mary Ann Culp settled in

children are found on the 1870 and 1880 Census. Thomas Jesse Lowry and
Mary Ann Culp had the following children: Thomas Jesse Jr., born 1864,
Sedessia Arnetta, born 1868, Joseph Aloin (Alvin?) Ceymore, born 1869,
Willis Milo and William J (twins), born 1873, Miles, and Noah. My

young), Mabel, Ethel, Albert, Margaret, Willard and my father, Ray
Edward Lowry, born March 17, 1916. Would like to correspond with others

McCARVER / CARVER, 1800s. $50 reward for a positive
connection to the parents of William H. McCARVER, alias William
CARVER, a possible son of John McCarver. William H. McCarver was born
in Mason, TN in 1833. William appears in
Franklin County, IL around 1856. He worked for William KING as most
likely a farmhand. Then on December 24, 1856 he married the widow of
John H. REA, Mrs. Bassina HILL Rea. She is the daughter of William B.
Hill and Lucy ROBERTS. She was born in Warren County, TN in 1824.
William and Bassina were married at the home of Clinton and Mary
Robinson BROWN in the township of Crittendon, Franklin County.
Bassina had three children by John Rea: M.L. Rea , Abner Rea who
married Eviline Brown , and Eli Rea who married Emiline P. WOODS.
In 1861 he moves the family to Crab Orchard Williamson County. Their
neighbors in Crab Orchard were John M. JEWELL and Mrs. Margaret
Morrow Stewart Jewell. Margaret was at the birth of William and
Bassina's second child, John A. Logan McCarver , on June 6, 1861.
On November 26, 1861, William enlisted
in the Union Army in Col. John A. Logan's Regiment Co. "H" of the 31st
Infantry. William was under the command of Capt. O. Greenly in Cairo.
On January 15, 1862, John BULLOCK, a
23-year-old friend of William's, witnessed William being carried to a
private house being used as the company hospital, for William had been
kicked in the right leg, just above the knee by a government mule.
William was sent home by order of Capt. O. Greenly after being refused
duty by
the surgeon. We believe he took his family to Darden, Henderson
County, TN in the early part of 1863. Then returned to Williamson
County, IL, where he died on November 13, 1863 of complications
contributed to his leg wound.

Russell was William Russell (we have three main candidates-General

Private William Russell-all in the same war...all at the same location
and at the same time). Nannie PARKS, a librarian of Carnagie Library in

STOVER, 1800s. Joseph STOVER was born in IL 1825-1840 and
most probably died in Williamson County. Was married to Sarah ONLEY,
born 1847 in TN, in the early 1860s. I would like to find records of
this marriage. They lived in Carterville, Williamson Co. The 1880
census shows Sarah living there with children: Thomas Jefferson (16);
Laura (14); Eliza (11); and Levi E. (8). Thomas Jefferson Stover is my
great-grandfather. He was born 12-1-1863
in Carterville, IL. He was a private in the Hospital Corps in the
Spanish American War, having enlisted 7-18-1898 and discharged
4-27-1899. He died 4-15-1953 and is buried in a VA Cemetery in Biloxi,
MS. I believe that his mother, Sarah Onley Stover, remarried and
possibily moved to MO. I have letters written to my grandmother after
the death of Thomas Stover from two of his sisters who were not on the
1880 Williamson Co. census. One sister signed the letter Sister Bertha
and there was no last name anywhere on the correspondence. All I know
about her is that she was living in Kansas City, MO in 1953 when Thomas
died. The other letter is from his other sister, Mary JERNIGAN, with
her return address as 4075 Rothwell St, Beaumont, TX in 1953. I think
that he also had another sister who was a nurse or doctor living in San
Antonio, TX in 1953. I don't have a name for her. Would appreciate
hearing from anyone who might have any information on this Stover
family. Would especially like
to know of Sarah Stover's other name.

WILLIAMS, SMITH, FURGESON/FERGUSON, 1800s. I am looking for
information on the WILLIAMS families that moved to the northeastern
part of the county around 1850. Stephen Williams was born in 1804 in TN
and married Mary FURGESON/FERGUSON. Their daughter Nancy married Thomas
SMITH in 1856 in Williamson County. Thomas and Nancy's son Caleb
married Nancy Young Williams, the daughter of Andrew and Mary Williams.
Are these two Williams families related? How? I know Andrew Williams
was the son of Isham and Patsy Williams and that this family lived in
Hopkins, Henderson, and Webster Counties in KY before moving to
Williamson County. Also, was Andrew Williams' wife Mary also a Williams?
